What's Up

Vineyard happenings:

Tucking, thinning, tieing up, weed control and water monitoring. We are farmers in the end. Enjoying the "labor of love" that we call our vineyards!

March 13th and 14th: Grafting some vines to Negro Amaro, Sagrantino, and Nebbiolo. Bud break is finished. It's amazing how fast these vines grow.

The vineyard on our property in Temecula is planted and looking good. We planted more Italian varietals including: Primitivo and Pinot Grigio. La Vigna a Destra (The vineyard to the right) is starting to shape up.

Keep checking back from time to time. We'll keep this updated every few weeks. Or better yet visit the next time in Temecula Wine Tasting!

Cougar also did a private tasting for Tori, Dean and the guests at Chateau La Rue which may very well be included in one of the upcoming episodes of "Tori And Dean Inn Love" airing on the Oxygen Network Tuesdays @ 7:30 PST and 10:30 EST.

Cougar Vineyard And Winery moves to Temecula, CA about 60 miles northwest of San Diego Ca just in time for the 2006 harvest and crush. Currently we are growing Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Vermentino, Aglianico, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec varietals with a handful of Syrah. Come by and visit our new tasting room. We opened the Saturday after Thanksgiving 2006 and now are open 7 days a week, winter hours 11-5pm (11-6pm Summer hours).

July 26th we were accepted as a wine grower member of the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association. We're excited to be a part of such a large and knowledgeable group of growers and winemakers!

Cougar Vineyard And Winery purchases 10 acres in Temecula CA on De Portola Rd off of highway 79. We have planted about 8.0 acres with some interesting varietals such as Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Vermentino and Aglianico. The following spring plans are finish planting with Sagrantino, Greco di Tufo or maybe Fiano di Avellino.

We didn't even know that the San Diego Reader had a wine column until we met Matthew Lickona at a wine tasting function. As a result, he did a story on us.
